Nature guiding in Swedish Lapland - adventures, wildlife & Nordic landscapes.

About us

Hello! I’m Fanny, your outdoor guide based in the heart of Sweden’s breathtaking landscapes!

My project, Paws & Compass, is the fulfilment of a long-held dream, shaped by years of experience, meaningful encounters, and a deep longing for freedom and adventure.

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." J.R.R. Tolkien

Exploring nature with my dogs has been my passion since childhood, and I’ve been working in the winter outdoor world for over ten years, from skijoring and cross-country skiing to snowshoeing. This unique connection with my dogs and the natural world is more than a hobby: it’s my way of life.

My background as a firefighter and healthcare assistant has given me solid experience in group management, risk awareness, and first aid, essential skills for guiding safely in demanding environments.

My move to Sweden was no coincidence. For me, this country embodies freedom: the freedom to explore vast open spaces, and the freedom granted by the right of public access to nature (Allemansrätten), which allows everyone to enjoy the land, as long as it is respected.

To formalise my expertise and provide the highest standard of guidance, I became a certified Nature and Adventure Guide and continue to develop my skills through further training.

Our values

Why adventure with us

👥
Small groups

I favour small groups to ensure an intimate experience and minimise our environmental impact. You are never just a number in a crowd.

🌿
Nature first

Respect for the environment and animal welfare are central to everything I do. Every activity is carefully designed to reduce our footprint and deepen your immersion.

💪
Beyond your limits

My driving force is to show people that they are capable of going beyond what they believe are their limits and to awaken their sense of wonder in the face of nature's beauty.

The team

Meet the real stars of the show

They’re not just pets but working partners, trail guides, and the soul of every Paws & Compass adventure.

I was 9 years old when I got my first dog Rox, a mix of Papillon and terrier. With him, I walked and ran countless kilometres through the mountains and countryside of my childhood. We took part in agility competitions and I’m not going to lie, we didn’t place among the top but to me, we were the best. No one helped me train or educate him, it was just me, and he remained my precious friend until he was 19.

My sweet Patty came into my life during my teenage years. She led me to take part in sheep herding courses, and that’s when I began to picture a life that truly suited me: mountains, dogs… though I didn’t yet know how to bring it all together.

It was Mohawk, my first husky, my beloved one, who pushed me into the world of sled dogs. I compete my first canicross with her!

Little by little, I found my way.

Nilakka

Greenland Dog

born in 2015

The Queen

At four months old, this already adored fluffy puppy came into my life and everything changed. I truly discovered the outdoor life, the world of sled dogs, and the mountains in winter with Mohawk and her. They even led me to take part, on my skis and with my loyal purple pulka, in the Beaver Trap Trail a long-distance race in Sweden.

She has a hurricane-like personality strong both physically and mentally. She’s very close to me and incredibly intelligent. Despite her age, she still loves to run just as much, and she needs it.

If she has often been the cause of my cortisol levels running high, she has also been the light that healed my soul.

Nilakka is named after a Finnish lake.

Bamse

Greenland Dog

born in 2021

The World’s Kindest Dog

We welcomed this big teddy bear into our lives when he was already four years old, and from the very first evening, I knew I was his human for life.

With his clingy and clumsy side, he has a wonderfully funny and endearing personality. He has brought so much joy into our little bubble: playful and peaceful, with a deeply social intelligence, he brings balance to the relationships within our trio.

While he doesn’t enjoy running very fast, he truly excels when it comes to exploring wide, open spaces.

Full of energy and always ready for the next adventure, he is a loyal companion who has found his forever home with us.

Bamse is the name of a famous swedish teddy bear.

Lumi

Siberian Husky

born in 2025

The Handsome One

He is special, not because he comes from one of the best Siberian Husky bloodlines, but simply because he is irresistibly cute. Beneath his striking good looks, there are no surprises: his personality is as soft as his fur, and he brings Love into our lives.

Off-lead, he enjoys chasing a few insects and sniffing mushrooms, but when he puts on his harness, Lumi is not there to wander, his mind switches into “work mode”, and he pulls with all his strength and runs fast.

Brave and incredibly intelligent, he will make an excellent leader.

His little secret: he sleeps on the doorstep of our bedroom and, during the night, curls up against me.

Lumi means ”snow” in finnish.
